How Much Does Computer Repair Cost in Tampa Bay?
A lot of shops answer this with “it depends” and leave it there. Here are our actual rates, and what typical jobs actually run against them.
“It depends” is a true answer, but it's also the answer you get right before someone tries to sell you something. Here's what it actually depends on, with real numbers attached.
Our Rates, Straight
| Service | Residential | Business |
|---|---|---|
| On-site | $125/hr, 1-hour minimum | $175/hr, 1-hour minimum |
| Remote support | $31.25 per 15 min ($125/hr) | $175/hr, billed in 15-min increments |
| Pickup & return | From $200 flat | From $300 flat |
Many common jobs, virus removal, upgrades and defined repairs, can be quoted as a flat fee instead of billed hourly; ask when you call. Full details are on our pricing page.
What Typical Jobs Actually Run
Rough ranges based on how long these jobs usually take against the rates above. Every job gets diagnosed before it's quoted, so treat these as a starting expectation, not a guarantee:
| Job | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Virus & malware removal | Often 1 hour, sometimes 2 depending on how deep it's gotten in |
| Slow computer tune-up | Usually the 1-hour minimum |
| New computer or printer setup | 1 hour for a straightforward setup, more for data migration from an old machine |
| Wi-Fi troubleshooting / network setup | 1–2 hours depending on the size of the space and whether new hardware is needed |
| Hardware repair or upgrade (RAM, SSD swap) | Often quoted flat once the part is identified; parts are billed at cost |
| Data recovery | Diagnosis is separate from the recovery quote, since it depends entirely on the failure type. See our drive failure guide. |
What Makes a Job Cost More or Less
- Multiple issues stacked together (a slow computer that's also infected, for example) take longer than either problem alone.
- Parts needed for a hardware repair are passed through at cost, on top of labor.
- On-site vs. remote vs. pickup changes the rate itself; remote is usually the fastest and least expensive option when it's available for the problem.
- How urgent it is. Same-day service is usually available, but a flexible schedule gives more room to fit the job in efficiently.
The Subscription Alternative
If you're calling more than once or twice a year, a maintenance plan often works out cheaper than paying per incident, because it catches problems (an aging drive, a missed update, malware) before they turn into an hour-long repair call. Our maintenance plan ROI guide walks through the actual math. Residential plans start at $55/month per computer.
