What We Install

From a Front Door to a Whole Property

IP / PoE Camera Systems

New Cat6 runs, PoE recorder, 4K and 5MP cameras with on-camera AI. The clean-sheet install for a new build-out or a first system.

Coax Upgrades, No Rewiring

Older analog system? 4-in-1 HD cameras and a hybrid DVR run over the coax already in your walls. New ends, same runs.

How a coax upgrade works →

Full-Color Night Vision

ColorMAX cameras keep parking lots and yards in color after dark, so a vehicle is red, not grey.

License Plate Capture

A plate camera positioned and set for a gate or driveway, so the plate is readable rather than a white smear.

LPR vs ANPR explained →

Access Control & Intercom

Card readers, keypads, maglocks and door hardware, tied into the same system so an event on a door has a camera on it.

Access control hardware →

Recorder & Storage Upgrades

Replacing a full or failing recorder, adding channels, or sizing a surveillance drive for the retention your insurer wants.

NVRs and kits →

Repairs, Moves & Additions

A camera that dropped offline, one that needs to move after a remodel, or the fifth camera on a four-camera system.

Network & Remote Viewing

The recorder on your network properly, ports locked down, and the app on the phones that need it before we leave.

How an Install Goes

  1. Site walk. Fifteen minutes on site. We look at entrances, sight lines, dark corners, where the recorder can live and where cable can go. We will tell you if you need fewer cameras than you were planning on.
  2. Written quote by part number. Every camera, the recorder, the drive, the cable and the labor, itemized. The equipment is the same Cortex gear listed on SecurityCamStore.com, so you can see exactly what is proposed.
  3. Install. Our own technicians, cable run to standard and supported properly, cameras aimed with you watching the monitor.
  4. Hand-over. Retention set, motion recording tuned, the app on your phones, and a walk-through of playback so the first time you need footage is not the first time you look for it.

Why Cortex

Cortex is a Tampa Bay manufacturer, established in 1998, with showrooms in Tampa and Clearwater. Its cameras are the installer-grade kind: IP and HD-over-coax, full-color night vision, on-camera analytics, all metal housings, and a three-year manufacturer warranty backed by live US tech support. Footage records to a recorder at your property, so there is no monthly fee and no cloud subscription. Bay Geeks is an authorized dealer, and the store is ours, which is why one quote covers the equipment and the labor.

Common Calls

  • A shop, office or restaurant that has had an incident and needs usable footage, not a blur
  • An old analog system the landlord left behind, upgraded to HD over the same coax
  • A parking lot or yard that is black on camera after dark
  • A gate or driveway that needs plates readable, not just headlights
  • Door access control added to an existing building, with a camera on each controlled door
  • A homeowner who wants it done once, properly, by people who will still answer in three years

How Pricing Works

Installation is quoted per project after the site walk, not billed hourly. Equipment is listed by part number on the quote at the store's price, and if you are outside our install area, or would rather mount it yourself, we will ship the same equipment nationwide. Our guide to what a small-business system costs explains what moves the number before you call.
