Windows XP Service Pack 3
Microsoft released Service Pack 3 to the automatic updates on July 10th 2008 at 2 p.m. EST.
No big deal for most folks, but for those with an AMD processor, just like a couple I have in my shop right now… that’s a bit of an issue!
Turns out, the image that they created for these boxes were made with an Intel machine. Long story short, that ruins the AMD’s day and causes a blue screen, with continual reboots!
Freaked me right out as I was updating a clients computer, got a blue screen! Yikes!!!
Didn’t take long to find a fix, but look out if you have an AMD machine with auto-updates set!
